Our pastured eggs come from NSW farms with stocking densities of around 3 hens per hectare. Mobile shelters are moved to new pasture every few days, allowing access to fresh grasses, preventing over-grazing and spreading valuable manure at a consistent rate across the farm.
We're often asked, 'which ones are best?' and we find it impossible to answer because we think they're all as good as each other. The farms are all regeneratively-managed with no chemical inputs, the chickens are all ranging free on mixed pastures with stocking densities as low as three per hectare and are regularly rotated onto fresh paddocks. The handling and animal husbandry is all of the highest standard.
Of course, each farm is unique and offers the birds a particular environment and range of plants on which to graze and there are certainly seasonal variations.
