A word about Moorlands Texel Lamb in the Delicious Awards
Moorlands biodynamic lamb is one of a handful of finalists selected to compete for the national 'From the Paddock' gong in the 2024 Delicious Produce Awards, with the winners announced next week on 22nd August. It's a big deal and we're very excited for Vince Heffernan, Moorlands lamb producer and regenerative farmer. We've been working together since 2009 and his lamb just gets better.
Also excited for us, because we get to eat his lovely Texel lambs. Here they are on the farm and below, in the pot, in photos taken by Alan Benson for our book The Ethical Omnivore which features a case study of Moorlands.
Right, what about dinner and that competition?
It's mid-August (how did that happen?) and the wattle and the first, precocious Jasmine buds are insisting the season's changed, but we've still got a month or so left of chilly, wintery food weather and I'm going to make the most of it.
Starting with David's Chicken Broth Ramen Soup and Vince Heffernan's Slow-roasted Lamb Shoulder with Paprika and Honey from our book, The Ethical Omnivore.
Read on for the recipes and your chance to win a $40.00 voucher.
WIN A $40.00 VOUCHER FOR THE BEST DINNER PHOTO!
Cook one (or both) of these recipes, take a stunning photo and you could win a $40.00 voucher!
David will select the photo winner of his Chicken Broth Ramen and Vince will select the photo winner of his Slow-roasted Lamb Shoulder.
Email your photos to orders@featherandbone.com.au by Wednesday 21st August.
VINCE'S SLOW-ROASTED LAMB SHOULDER WITH PAPRIKA AND HONEY
Click here for the recipe (which is in our book, just saying).
Vince pops his shoulder in a slow oven in the morning, goes off to tend the sheep, checks it at morning tea time and returns in the evening to a delicious feed.
The main things you'll need are a lamb shoulder, organic chicken broth, passata, wild honey, organic onions and olive oil, all of which we can supply.
DAVID'S CHICKEN BROTH RAMEN SOUP
David, our F&B GM, made this super healthy and delicious dish to soothe a ramen craving and stave off the nasty, respiratory lurgies that are currently making the rounds.
"Super simple, super tasty, and ready in less than 30 minutes!"
Naturally, we can supply key ingredients - organic chicken broth, organic chicken thigh, pastured eggs, aged soy sauce, aged mirin and olive oil.
